New Plays from Finland
Kari Heiskanen (born 1955) is an actor, director and dramatist. He graduated from the Finnish Theatre Academy in 1979 and has since acted in theatre and television. He has directed numerous productions for theatres such as Ryhmäteatteri, Helsinki City Theatre, The National Opera and for TV, where he is best known for his comedies.
Between 1991 and 1996 Heiskanen worked as Professor at the Theatre Academy and in 2002 he was awarded a five-year Artistic Professorship. Since 2012 he has worked as a director at the Helsinki City Theatre. He has also won several awards for his acting work.
