In 1975, finnish author Arto Paasilinna wrote The Year of the Hare; a novel that quickly became a classic in Finland. Now, in the hands of playwrights Sami Keski-Vähälä, Esa Leskinen and Kristian Smeds; the same story about a man and a hare escaping the rat race gets a new, dynamic and up-to-date interpretation where the fragile relationship between man and nature is highlighted. The protagonist, Vatanen, is an IT-worker struggling in the quarterly economic cycle, as the world keeps balancing ever closer to the edge of the abyss.
Estrangement and inner solitude haunt but fragments of hope and love can also be found along the way. The story is accompanied by a wonderful set of characters and ingenius theatrical visions.
