New Plays from Finland
Klaus Klemola
Klaus Klemola (born 1973) is a Finnish film organizer who has also done playwriting and acting. Perhaps the most well-known film he has organized is Tuntematon Sotilas (The Unknown Soldier) from 2017 which was directed by Aku Louhimies. He has worked as a freelancer in the past but is currently self-employed in addition to being a shareholder of a masonry co-operative in Tampere (Tampereen Muurausliike Osk).
His most recent play (written in collaboration with his sister Leea), Arktiset Leikit (Arctic Games 2019), is the fourth and final part of their Arctic trilogy series. The series focuses on exploring community, violence and masculinity through dark humour. In addition to co-writing the play, Klaus also acted in each part of the trilogy as the character Piano Larsson, although he emphasizes that he does not wish to pursue acting professionally. Arctic Games premiered at the Tampere Theatre at the end of 2019.
