Helvetin perhe (Family from hell) is an intense, abstract, funny, true, recognisable, realistic yet merciful play about family, about the human struggle to move from symbiosis towards being a separate individual... Siblings Eero and Kerttu travel with their spouses to the summer cottage with the intention of discussing how to fix the place up, but end up being stuck there for the weekend after being hit by the storm of the century.
This weekend at the family summer cottage is ravaged by storms both inside and outside the walls of the house. The four main characters are shaken up by the past and the present, dreams as well as fantasies. Being stuck in the middle of nature is a powerful experience for all of them: to be momentarily brought out of the day-to-day routine and the outer noise, media, constant rush, consumption and production that goes with it. To truly come face to face with a loved one.
