New Nordic Voices
Open Call for Playwrights
New Nordic Voices is an exciting new programme from Cut the Cord Theatre that is looking to translate the work of an emerging Nordic playwright from each of the participating Nordic countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands).
It's for emerging playwrights (of any age) with some professional experience, but no more than 2 professionally staged productions. It's for playwrights who have not been translated into English before.
The play submitted must be a finished manuscript between 50-70 minutes in length and must be in the original language.
Deadline for submissions: 2020, Thursday 8th October 23:59 (UK).

Showcase in London 2021
One play from each country will be translated into English, with a showcase of the plays in London in Spring 2021. The showcase will be a series of reading extracts from each play, with a group of UK performers and directors attached. Extracts of the plays will also form part of an online library of new Nordic writing, available for programmers, theatres, and producers to browse. The aim of the programme is to promote emerging Nordic playwrights and their work in the UK.
From October 2020, our group of readers will read submissions and present a shortlist to the selection panel, who will then decide which plays to commission for translation. Work on the translations will begin at the end of November 2020, with successful applicants being informed at this stage.
