Portable Sharing (PS) project

Theatre Info Finland TINFO, along with five other Nordic and Baltic performance organisations and festivals, will explore new contemporary performance concepts within the region in 2025.

A short-term mobility network grant awarded by the Nordic Culture Point will enable five workshops organised by the partners over the course of a year that will coincide with contemporary performance festivals in the region.

Due to the lack of touring networks in the Nordics and Baltics, contemporary and experimental performances that may have young and relatively large audiences within the capital areas in our region, struggle to find audiences elsewhere. This results in short performance runs and often insignificant media visibility, which in turn creates a vicious circle of high production rates with little yields.

The aim of the new network is to identify, exchange good practices, and develop contemporary performance concepts with artists and collectives for new linguistic and cultural contexts within the Nordic and Baltic region, and to establish a network for their possible future mobility.

The partners – TINFO, Performing Arts Centre Iceland, the performance venue Konträr in Sweden, Hangö Teaterträff in Finland, Lithuanian Theatre Information Centre / Sirenos festival, and Showbox, the Norwegian festival for children and young people – will together explore the applicability of contemporary performance concepts in new cultural contexts in order to develop green mobility, extend the life cycles of artistic works and to pilot a network for future co-production.

Five workshops upcoming

The network will hold five workshops during which different models for sales, contracts, financing and copyrights of concept-based works with be discussed and existing performance concepts mapped. In addition, case studies will be presented and shared amongst the partners. The network will hold two online meetings, and three live meetings that will coincide with the Hangö theatre festival in June in Finland, with the Sirenos festival in Lithuania in October, and with the Showbox festival in Norway in November 2025.

The goal of the network is to find an alternative model for increasing the longevity of contemporary performance works with ecological, social, cultural and financial sustainability in mind.
