TINFO’s International Highlights for 2026
In 2026, TINFO continues to strengthen the international presence of Finnish theatre and performing arts by focusing on mobility, long-term partnerships and professional exchange. At a time when international touring and collaboration require increasing agility and strong networks, TINFO works both through large-scale collaborative projects and through tailored support for individual artists and organisations.
The new year brings new opportunities. At TINFO we’re preparing to welcome international curators, artistic directors and dramaturgs for the launch of the Dot · Dot Drama Showcase in April, drawing its name from Pipsa Lonka’s new play Peter Lived in a House: A Dolphin from Dot to Dot. Our invited guests will have the possibility to see up to ten performances over four days, as well as participate in a seminar on resilience within Nordic and Baltic performing arts, organised together with Nordic Culture Point.
Alongside the showcase, TINFO is launching a new regional collaboration project. This spring we will begin the three-year LIKI (Linking Nordic and Baltic Performing Arts) initiative. The project aims to deepen collaboration within the Nordic and Baltic region by supporting Finnish artists and companies invited to festivals and production platforms in the region. Beyond mobility support, LIKI also seeks to foster dialogue between festivals and production centres, opening pathways for future co-productions and long-term partnerships.
Our partners in this project include the guest venues FÅR302 in Copenhagen and Konträr in Stockholm, as well as the festivals Baltoscandal in Rakvere, Homo Novus in Riga, SAAL Biennaal in Tallinn, Showbox in Oslo, and Sirenos in Vilnius. We are also open to expanding the network to include additional festivals in the region – so please feel free to get in touch. The project is supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
Another highlight of the year will be the Baltic Drama Think Tank. The popular programme for theatre makers will take place in Finland for the first time. Its aim is to strengthen peer networks in the region and encourage the formation of new international working groups capable of developing joint projects and apply for cross-border funding.
We also look forward to meeting many international colleagues in Oulu this June, when the IETM Plenary Meeting brings the contemporary performing arts network to northern Finland.
TINFO continues its long-standing collaboration with Sala Beckett in Barcelona and its Obrador d’Estiu summer workshop for playwrights, offering Finnish writers opportunities to develop their work in an international context.
Finally, the long-running Play Translators’ Workshop in Helsinki continues to support international exchange by bringing professional drama translators to Finland for intensive training, networking, and performances. While the deadline for translation grants has passed for this spring, a new call for financial support for play translations will open erarly next autumn.
Through showcases, partnerships and mobility programmes, TINFO continues to create opportunities for performing artists based in Finland to connect internationally. We look forward to meeting colleagues and collaborators across the Nordic and Baltic region and beyond throughout the coming year.
